Another long weekend and another trip is being planned. After a fabulous ski trip to Thredbo last July, I am keen to see it in the summer; we biked through it last April (weather was miserable) but this time the idea is to stay the night.
After that, we’ll head over the mountain range to Beechworth, in Victoria, and the play it by ear for the third night. Somehow it feels like a hard core adventure when we motorbike to another state.
Day 1 will probably be all about getting there, with our less than preferred road options of freeways. That said, I love riding past the oft empty Lake George near Canberra, for its mysterious beauty; don’t let this extract from Google Maps fool you, this lake has an average depth of 1 metre so rarely contains any water.
Day two will be over the tight mountain roads of the Snowy Mountains, when we previously rode this route, it rained a bit and the fog was a little heavy which dos not make the best riding conditions. This time, the forecast is better.
We’ll get to Beechworth and make our plans for day 3 and 4, we may back track or look at an alternative, which is all part of the fun.
Anyway, all things being equal, that’s the plan, stand by for updates!
