A weekend to the far north Hunter Valley region led us to head east and explore the Great Lakes area. There we discovered beautiful coastline and an out of control bush fire.
Crookwell, Cleanest Air in New South Wales!
Well, isn’t amazing the things you learn when you venture away from the big smoke! And indeed we learned that and more when overnighting in Crookwell. Plus we experienced some of the wonders of Australia’s native wildlife.

A weekend away with a group of riders, staying at the pioneering town of Rylstone.
Hopefully we’re not the only people for whom when they hear the name Rylstone, the Glen Campbell hit “Rhinestone Cowboy” instantly springs to mind. If not, the title of this post will make no sense. “Ridin out on a horse, in a star spangled rodeo”.
Oxley Oxley Oxley, Oi Oi Oi!
Looking to capitalise on a long weekend for the Queen’s Birthday in early June, we headed north to the amazing Oxley Highway. It was a successful trip, despite the inconvenience of forgetting most of our luggage!

Days 9 & 10 – The Return From Tassie – Harrietville to Tumbarumba to Home
Our final proper day of riding (if you discount a blast on the motorway back to Sydney) took us over Mount Hotham and through a substantial section of the Omeo Highway, Victoria’s first gazetted state highway.
Day 8 – The Return From Tassie – Melbourne to Harrietville
Having sadly left the wonderful state of Tasmania, our trip was not over yet. A Melbourne bikers favourite of the Black Spur, torrential rain and a beautiful twisting road through yet another national park awaited us today.
Tassie! – Day 7 – St Helens to Devonport via The Great Lake
Our final day in Tasmania took us back to Devonport via mountains and a Great Lake.
Tassie – Day 6 – East Coast – Hobart to St Helens
After a day off the bikes, we were ready for our east coast adventure, the glorious weather continued, as did the great roads and food.
